Whereas the sole legitimate purpose of government is to protect the Unalienable Rights of the governed and a righteous legislator will categorically reject any legislation which oversteps this boundary; and
Whereas these Rights include, but are not limited to: Life and the right to defend it; Liberty and the right to exercise it (provided the Liberty of another is not infringed); Private Property and the right to preserve it; and
Whereas the Constitution of the United States was crafted as a timeless protection of the American People, the clear language of the delegated powers is not open to interpretation (a changeable interpretation rendering useless the writing of any constitution) and the powers specifically granted to the Congress under Article I, Section 8 may not be legally expanded except through the constitutionally defined Amendment procedure; and
Whereas the phrase “Regulate commerce…among the several States” found in Article I, Section 8, Clause 3 , was written and intended by our Founders to mean only that Congress could ‘make regular’ or standardize the laws of trade from one State into another and grants no power to Congress to regulate business activities contained within State borders; and
Whereas the Founders’ vision for a limited central government, with police and legislative powers being delegated to the most local offices possible, is the vision which most protects and secures the Natural Rights of our citizens; and
Whereas a government deriving its just authority from the consent of the governed cannot and shall not commit under the color of governance, acts which citizens themselves could not rightly commit, specifically confiscating the private property of one citizen to distribute to other citizens; and
Whereas the proper role of the State Government is to govern all internal affairs of the State, and the elected leaders of ________ have neither the right to delegate nor the prerogative to abandon those duties to the Federal Government;
Be it resolved, that the undersigned pledge to uphold the principles of our nation as outlined in the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States, and the Bill of Rights; and further pledge to uphold the ________ Constitution and defend the inalienable rights of the People of ________, as follows:
I will reject with my words and my vote, any effort of the Federal Government to exceed the boundaries of its authority as specifically granted in the seventeen powers listed under Article I, Section 8 of the United States Constitution, and understood to limit the exercise of Congressional power in the service of the General Welfare;.
I will reject with my words and my vote any and all legislation which infringes on the Natural Rights of the citizens of ________ as defined above;
I will reject with my words and my vote any and all legislation which seeks to redistribute wealth according to the caprices of government or the petitions of those who would enrich themselves at the expense of the private property of others;
I will reject with my words and my vote any and all attempts to alter the understanding of the United States Constitution from the plain meaning of the text as understood at the time it was originally crafted;
I will support with my words and my vote all efforts of the State of ________ to legislatively reestablish a constitutionally limited Federal Government on behalf of the People and the Sovereign States
